Our floorcovering mechanics work closely with all facets of the construction industry to ensure the flooring portion of a project is done completely to the customer’s satisfaction. We cater to facility managers and construction specifiers, acting as both a resource for job-specific problem-solving, and as a provider of training and specification language.
Our Council represents this region’s best contractors and is the local authority on flooring installation. Our contractors use INSTALL-trained professionals exclusively. These men and women have extensive experience and continually stay abreast of the many flooring installation products, installation methods and designer specification trends.
INSTALL is also supported by the UBC International Training Fund, which allots more than $250 million each year to training its members, including floor layers.
The INSTALL Program
INSTALL is the floor covering industry’s working cooperative of mills, manufacturers, industry consultants, contractors and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) who combine to present the best training installation program in North America.
Through this alliance, INSTALL Southeastern mechanics receive the newest installation methods and newest technology from the 100+ mills and manufacturers who partner to keep our training the best in the business. Technical experts from the biggest names in the flooring industry partner with veteran instructors from the UBC to take an active role in helping to update the INSTALL curriculum on a regular basis. These experts ensure that INSTALL’s curriculum addresses current labor needs in the floor covering industry.
INSTALL Warranty
When you specify one of our regions INSTALL Warranty Contractors, the work is backed by the industry’s only additional, free, third-party, extended warranty on labor. We believe so much in the performance of our trained flooring installers that our warranty is in place to guarantee satisfaction.
Learn MoreOur floor covering curriculum content prepares our installers to be proficient in industry standards, manufacturer recommendations, and design specifications. Training includes theory and practice of proper floor preparation, installation, and finishing procedures for carpet, linoleum, vinyl and other resilients, hardwood, laminate, artificial and turf sports surfaces, and other accessories.
Safety Skills Training
The INSTALL program offers classes to teach safety and awareness on the jobsite. Courses include safety methods for working with flooring and power tools and proper handling procedures for maneuvering the different sizes and shapes of flooring materials throughout a jobsite.
Productivity Skills Training
The relationship between the installer and their employer is a partnership which benefits both when a project is installed correctly. Productivity is a large part in the success of every project, and some of the keys are how to clean and prepare a substrate and the care of placing rolled goods into the area.
Green Building Awareness Training
Healthy, sustainable buildings are no longer green, just smart. In our business, it is important to understand the basic concepts of sustainability. We will teach you how to work in accordance with green building standards. In fact, our green building content has been reviewed by the Green Building Initiative (GBI).
Hardwoods
Hardwood floorcovering systems are also very popular and INSTALL has you covered. The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) partnered with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) to build this part of the curriculum. Our training is focused on installation and sand-and-finish practices.
Concrete Polishing
Concrete Polishing is mechanically refining a concrete floor surface, with or without aggregate exposure, achieving the finished sheen level from satin to high-gloss. When the concrete is in such poor condition (cracks, spalling, pitted) that polishing would look undesirable, a polished overlay is the solution.
Resinous
The curriculum will discuss the differences between industrial, commercial, and residential specifications and applications for resinous installations.
Carpet Training
Carpet is everywhere, and in the flooring business, it’s important to know all about it. We’ll make sure that you know carpet inside and out, and understand how to install it.
Resilient Flooring
Today’s resilient flooring products are highly engineered combinations of polymer material. We will show you how to use them through hands-on instruction.
Our floor layers learn from an established set of standards, which include fundamental, core installer skills; graduated levels of skill competence and experience; written proof of theoretical knowledge; and hands-on skill testing. Standards also include external educational accreditation of trainers and trainees.
By placing Southeastern floorcovering specialists on your project, you are avoiding the hassle and expense of recruiting, hiring, and training workers.
Our trained and certified flooring installers go into every job with the knowledge and tools to get the job done right the first time. The result is an attractive floor that functions as intended without costly and time-consuming repairs or replacement.
No flooring product has value until it is correctly installed. By delivering comprehensive training, we ensure that all stakeholders, from specifiers and owners to contractors and installers, realize the full value of a successful flooring installation.
Today’s Southeastern Carpenter is hard working, safe, skilled, and brings a professional attitude to every job site.
