Camp Frog

An overnight summer camp for children and teens with epilepsy

Children with epilepsy — like all children — deserve the chance to experience summer camp. The EAWCP sponsors a week long overnight summer camp program called Camp Frog. Camp Frog allows kids with epilepsy/seizure disorders to be integrated into a typical camp experience with many other children. This program is available to youth with epilepsy/seizure disorders from ages 8-17 who have completed 3rd grade but not yet graduated high school.

Scholarships and financial assistance are available to eligible campers. All scholarship information and applications are included in the full registration packet that parents will receive after they pre-register their camper.

There is medical staff onsite the entire week to provide assistance with medication and seizure emergency response. Camp staff also includes counselors who are trained in seizure recognition and first aid.

We work hard to ensure that campers with seizures are not excluded from camp activities, but the health and safety of our campers is our number one priority. Campers that attend Camp Frog must have the skills to function independently within an inclusionary setting at all times. Campers must possess the ability to participate and function within both small and large groups without one-on-one assistance or supervision. Independent self-care skills are required; this is including but not limited to independent toileting, bathing, communication, and feeding skills.

Camp Firefly

A weekend overnight camp for teens with epilepsy and additional medical needs

Camp Firefly is a free weekend camp that was designed for youth, ages 11-18, with epilepsy who have additional medical and behavioral needs, and who would not thrive in a weeklong summer camp setting.

Our camp medical staff includes a full-time nurse for medication administration, additional skilled nursing staff for one-on-one support, and an overnight nurse to monitor for nocturnal seizures. We also have counselors who are trained to recognize and respond to seizures. Our staff assists with personal care needs, swimming supervision, and mealtime routines.

Due to the nature of this program, we are limited on the number of campers we can accommodate for each session.

For more information, contact Brooke at 1-800-361-5885 or bmohr@eawcp.org.

The EAWCP believes that all children deserve the opportunity to attend summer camp. This can be an expensive opportunity so the EAWCP provides financial aid to families who can’t afford to pay for the camper tuition fees. The financial aid form is made available in the full camp registration packet once a camper is pre-registered.
