3rd Year Apprentice: Helping to Build Our Industries. Apprentices learn how professionalism, productivity, skill, and attitude contribute to their success, and to the success of the contractors who employ them. UBC Journeymen: Building Leadership for a Strong Future. Journeymen develop leadership, mentoring, coaching, and communication skills, and learn to engage with newer members and lead by example, all while promoting positive work environments and productivity on the job. Florida Member Leaders learn the program at the Carpenters International Training Center in Las Vegas, NV. The CITC presents these leaders with the optimal enviornment and expert instructors to learn how to be a jobsite leader.

This course highlights the importance of leadership and management skills on the job. Participants are provided with the tools and techniques for success in their positions back home and receive guidance for balancing planning, communication and production responsibilities during a project.

This four-day program reinforces the leadership role that elected council delegates play in their locals, their councils, and in the greater UBC. Participants hone skills as communicators, advocates, mobilizers, coalition builders, and politically active union citizens.

Designed to help shape new UBC jobsite supervisors into top professionals, the 18-month Jobsite Supervisor program will increase participants’ self-awareness and ability to manage high-functioning teams effectively. Participants will learn the value of collaboration and how to communicate better with their office team.
Unlike other DET leadership programs at the ITC, the 18-Month Jobsite Supervisor program will span four separate sessions over the course of 18 months, focusing on Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, and Relationship Management.
