THE PITTSBURGH BUREAU OF POLICE ANNOUNCES TWO EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CITY RESIDENTS AND STUDENTS! BOTH PROGRAMS ARE FREE OF CHARGE!

The Pittsburgh Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) is a program offered twice a year, giving members of the community an opportunity to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of the Police Bureau. Participants receive training each Tuesday evening from 6-9pm for fifteen weeks beginning January 31, 2017 at the Kingsley Association Community Center (6435 Frankstown Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206). Participants are taught the basics of criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, firearms and many other subjects. Learn more and apply for this program here.

The Student Police Academy (SPA) is an opportunity for students within the city of Pittsburgh grades 9-12 to learn about the roles of Pittsburgh Police officers in the community, as well as potential career opportunities. Students receive training each Monday from 6-8:30pm for ten weeks beginning February 20, 2017 at the Kingsley Association Community Center (6435 Frankstown Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206). Students will learn about processing a crime scene, the use of police canines, and specialty police units. Students will also be able to meet and talk with many of the officers that they see on the streets every day, as well as members of the command and training staff.
